The Col de Meraillet, along with the Cormet de Roselend, connects Beaufort with Bourg St. Maurice using the D925 and D902. From Beaufort the road climbs 1,227m at an average grade of 6% for 12.5 miles. From Bourg St. Maurice the road climbs 1,154m at an average grade of 6% over 12 miles. It’s one of the prettiest roads in the Alps and has featured many times in the Tour de France. In 2007 the stage was won by the now disgraced – as a drug cheat – Danish rider Michael Rasmussen. You can also branch off the main road and take the loop which takes you over the dam at Lac du Roselend and onto the Col du Pre and then back onto the main road.
